Volvo VIN Number stamped / additionally behind the windscreen on a small plate.
Since the introduction of her 850th series in 1992 became the chassis number in Volvo on top in the hose wall stamped (A).
By the introduction of the S80 from MY 2007 the VIN in the ground metal became before the front passenger seat places (B). With vehicles after 2007 were produced should the Volvo VIN Number in the ground metal be right.

During the second half of 2011 Volvo started using laser as a method of engraving the Volvo VIN Number on the ground metal in front of the front passenger seat.
Due to initial problems the laser engraving was used parallel to former engraving method until May 2012. After this time (May 2012) laser is used.

Volvo Factory plate (from October 2013)
From 27 October 2013 all individual labels of all models include a lettering in the backdrop as a safety feature. The lettering in the backdrop include also a micro lettering with the name VOLVO in each of the left wing of the letter V.

Volvo Engine Number
The Volvo engine number is stamped in the engine block and on a sticker in the dental strap lid right
Since end of 2014 the Volvo VIN Number isn`t needle-punched any more on the engine block. The engine number is on two stickers, located on the toothed belt cover and on the top of the engine. The engine number is furthermore edged on the front of the engine. The stamped Volvo engine number is located on the rear side of the engine, behind the exhaust manifold and the turbocharger. It is only extremely difficult readable from the underside of the vehicle.

In direction of travel on a vertical surface. Behind the alternator or on the connection flange to the gearbox.
5 cylinder Petrol and Diesel
On a horizontal surface on the backside of the engine, towards the splash panel. Beside the exhaust outlet
Note: From 2012 the engine model code is not engraved on the engine block.
The Volvo engine number is stamped onto the underside of volvo chassis number engine block and is easy to find when the mudguards have been removed.

1. Automatic transmission: on to the gear readable from above through the engine space volvo chassis number
2. Manual Transmission: Gear underside, only readable from the underside of the vehicle
