Saang Yong Factory Plates of the stage 2 – approval
A few models get a so-called stage 2 approval from the importer who thereby confirms that the models comply with national provisions. Approval is certified by means of a separate Saang Yong Factory plate. The separate type plate may be made of metal or adhesive foil.
The stage 2 approval type plates can vary considerably. They comprise data on the importer, a national or Europe-wide type approval number and a Ssang Yong VIN Number which may differ from the actual VIN (the serial number of such a type plate refers to the vehicles imported by the importer which are counted and serially numbered). Besides, if the approved weight specifications differ from the specifications given by the manufacturer, they may be indicated as well.
The Ssang Yong Factory plates of the stage-2 approval are normally placed on the left B-pillar near by the type plate, which is put on at the works. However, type plates of the stage-2 approval were already found on the right B-pillar, too.
