Aprilia Engine Number
With the assistance of the manufacturer or the concessionaire/importer, it is possible to attribute a Aprilia VIN of the latest models to the engine number. To do this, it is necessary to have the name of the engine manufacturer (e.g. ROTAX), the engine type (e.g. V990RR) and the complete engine number.
Aprilia uses the following manufacturers for its engines:
– APRILIA – ROTAX – PIAGGIO – MINARELLI – YAMAHA
The Aprilia engine number was stamped onto the first series of Scarabeo 50 light motorcycles HS*072 up to LE*081 (from 1996 up to 12/1997). After that time the number was applied using self adhesive foil.
Aprilia recently reverted to stamping the number onto the engine block.
Aprilia engine number Location
On the engine housing near the final drive or the stand receiver on all models of scooter. E.g. the SR 50 in the image.
Under the pinion cover on the left-hand side of the engine on all Minarelli engines

On 250 cc Suzuki engines, on the rear side near the chain cog
