In General:

NISSAN motor cars can be identified from the following numbers:

Location
Vehicle identification number – stamped on the vehicle
– on the type plate
– Visible VIN (only Micra, 350 Z, Qashqai, Pathfinder Cube, NV200, 370 Z, GTR and Primastar)
Engine Number – stamped onto the engine block

– as a barcode sticker on the engine block (seldom)

Gearbox Number – on the underside of the bell housing

– on stickers on the gearbox housing (only Kubistar and Primastar)

 

customised vehicles can be identified with the aid of the engine number. These enquires must be forwarded to Japan. It can therefore take between 2 – 3 weeks to receive a reply.

Enquiries using the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) can be answered immediately.

Nissan dealers can also answer enquiries based on the VIN. The kind of information and data available to dealers can be found under „Extent of Information“.

Exceptions:

On the new Primera (P12) and on the Almera Tino (V10) the VIN is located on the floor panel in front of the front passenger’s seat (see photograph for the X-Trail All Terrain Vehicle).

The VIN is located behind a plastic flap, on the engine splash plate, on the right
Location of the VIN on the Murano:
On the model K12 Micra the VIN can only be seen when the plastic covering has been removed.

The weights are written with the ‘’K’’ in upper case.

3. Engine Number:

3.1 Location of the engine number

Passenger vehicle

The engine number in passenger cars is generally stamped on the engine block, where the gearbox is flanged.

In the majority of cases it is located at the front on the left, in the direction of travel, sometimes the number can also be found on the engine at the back on the left.

This also applies to the NISSAN SERENA.
