Bomag
In General:
BOMAG construction machines can be identified from the following numbers:
|
The serial number can be used to determine the units installed when the vehicle was first delivered. It is not possible to do this in reverse order.
Serial number àUnit installed = Yes
Aggregat àSerial number = No

3. Engine Number:
3.1 Location of the engine number
3.1.1 Location of the engine number on vibratory tandem rollers
The engine number printe onto an adhesive type plate. The type plates are on the valve cover.
On the type sticker the engine number calle “Serial No” on adhesive type plates. Adhesive type plates are put on at the works and cannot be removed without destroying them.
The serial number cannot determine from the engine number.
3.1.2 Location of the engine number on combination rollers
The engine number printe onto an adhesive type plate. The type plates are on the valve cover.
On the type sticker the engine number calle “Serial No” on adhesive type plates. Adhesive type plates are put on at the works and cannot be removed without destroying them.
The serial number cannot be determined from the engine number.
3.1.3 Location of the engine number on pneumatic tyred rollers
The engine locate in front of the operator’s cab in the direction of travel. The engine number engrave onto a type plate fixed on with rivets. The type plate locate on the wheel housing of the reduction gear on the left (as seen in the direction of travel).
The serial number cannot determine from the engine number.
Location of the “Cummins“ type plate on the left in the direction of travel

The engine number engrave onto an adhesive and a riveted type plate. The type plates are on the valve cover.
On the type sticker the engine number call “Serial No” on adhesive type plates. Adhesive type plates put on at the works and cannot remove without destroying them.
On riveted type plates the engine number call “Eng. No” and its also found in bar code form.
The engine manufacturers (Deutz and Cummins) have adopted the same numbering system. The serial number cannot determine from the engine number.

4. Gearbox number:
Not available
5. Vehicle Keys:
Construction machines use unitary keys as there few other locks requiring other keys. Keys cannot use for identification purposes.
6. Miscellaneous:
Certificate of Conformity
Owners of construction machines which not license for use on public highways only have a so-called ‘Certificate of Conformity’ (confirmation that the machine conforms with European Directives) as proof of ownership. BOMAG issues certificates of conformity only on printed A4 sheets of paper without specific security features.
