For its own vehicles, or vehicles intended for motor sports, Ferrari used a 3 or 4-digit even number.

This form of numbering came to an end in the period 1970-1971 for the 512M models and the S on the “1050”.
Five-digit even numbers were used on Dinos; the scheme began with the Dino 206 GT (1968) starting with No “00102” and was continued up to the Dino 246 GT/GTS, Dino 308 GT4 and 208 GT4, until No “15604” in 1990.

4- or 5- digit odd numbers up to the number 75000 were used for normal customers, thereafter consecutive (odd/even) numbering was used.
